Seven Plus

Privacy

Last updated 6 October 2026

The short version: no accounts, no ads, nothing sold, and no tracking across other websites. Your lists stay on your own device unless you choose to sync them. Seven Plus counts how many devices use it, anonymously, and you can switch that off below.

Who runs Seven Plus

Seven Plus is a free, non-commercial personal project by Troy Aitken in the UK. Questions about this notice or your information: email me.

What stays on your device

Your watchlist, watched ticks, ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž verdicts, hidden titles, chosen services, country, recommendations and settings are saved in your browser's storage on your device. They aren't sent anywhere unless you switch on Sync (below). You can delete them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, or by removing the app.

If you sync your devices

๐Ÿ”„ Sync is off unless you switch it on. When you do, Seven Plus gives you a random 8-character code and keeps one copy of your lists under that code, so your phone, laptop and tablet can share them. The copy holds which titles are on your watchlist, watched (with ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž), not interested or added, and any "recommended by" names you typed. It doesn't hold your name, email or anything else about you.

Anyone with the code can see and change those lists, so keep it to yourself. Press Stop syncing to delete the copy straight away. Copies not used for 12 months are deleted automatically.

The anonymous usage count

To know roughly how many people use Seven Plus, each device creates a random ID (for example k3f9โ€ฆ) and sends it once a day, with whether the app is installed on a home screen. On a device's first visit it also sends the name of the website you came from, if any (for example "linkedin" or "whatsapp", never the full web address), so I can see which posts bring people in. I store the ID with the first and last day it was seen, and delete IDs not seen for 12 months. It isn't linked to your name, email, location or anything else, and it's only used to count devices.

It also sends two numbers: how many of the Top 100 classic films and Top 100 TV shows you've ticked as watched (never which ones). Once enough people use Classics, this lets Seven Plus show a line like "more than 72% of Seven Plus viewers". Comparisons only appear once at least 50 devices have taken part.

Count my deviceTurn off to stop the daily check-in and classics count from this device.

If you email me

If you email me feedback, I'll use your email only to read and reply to it. I won't add you to any mailing list or share your details.

Hosting and data sources

Seven Plus is hosted by Netlify, which, like any web host, briefly processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the site and keep it secure. Posters and film data come from TMDB, ratings via OMDb, and streaming information from JustWatch. Your device loads posters directly from TMDB's servers.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. In practice the only things I could hold are an anonymous device ID, a synced copy of your lists if you switched on Sync, and any emails you've sent. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
